Im Still Here....in Tucuman.....with my same comp haha‏

Dear Family,

So another week, more stories! haha its been fun this week, but the work still is kinda sucking really bad....we went to centro the other day, the part of our area that is like downtown tucuman and we were just contacting old investigators, knocking doors, and just doing everything we could to get more people in centro.  We ended up walking almost 70 freaking city blocks....and had 1 lesson the entire freaking day!!! i was super mad, and a little disappointed.  but ive decided that everything from this week and the weeks before have been leading up to the whole subject of patience.  we had a district meeting this week and we decided we were all going to study the attribute of chirst patience because our whole district has been having difficulties lately.  so i studied it the other day for like almost an hour and it was so awesome!!!! its helped me so much and i think its probly changed my mission.  patience is basically bearing all the sucky stuff, knowing that if you keep doing your part, working hard, not giving up, and making yourself be happy even though life isnt the greatest right now, that God WILL provide you with success, and that all this crappy stuff that is happening right now will all be worth it.  so that has made me a TON happier, cuz i know that while we are having difficulties right now, lots of investigators are missing appointments, losing interest, and we cant teach to many lessons, i know that it will all pay off soon and ill have lots more happy moments in the future! and also, i set a goal this week that i will stop counting down the days till the next big event in my life, whether it be p-day, transfers, or when im gonna receive letters, cuz all that distracts me and im trying to live a week ahead of my life.  so now im trying to just enjoy the moment and not think so much about the future, and involve myself more in the work right now!  so this week has been pretty good in regards to my personal progress, whereas the progress of my investigators it kinda sucks haha

So the other day we were at susanas house ( my ¨wife¨) and we were talking to her waiting for maria to come over so we could teach her.  well we waited for a while, and then someone started screaming that she had passed out and then susana was yelling at us to run and go help, and so we took off running to her house.  shes a very big woman, and were pretty sure the heat mixed with her body mass basically just overheated her and thats why she passed out.  but we got her to wake up a little bit and we had to move her to a different room.  well my comp just ended up watching and not doing anything while me and this 12 year old stick of a girl tried supporting this 400 pound woman into the other room.  luckily she didnt pass out again or i think guadalupe would have been done for haha  but this same lady has a little 5 year old kid that causes a ridiculous amount of problems and the other day he got a lighter somewhere and lit the house of a neighbor on fire....long story short, maria is going back to buenos aires like this week with her kids and we just lost our next 2 baptisms.....but shes going to get baptized there, so its all good!

We had to fast the other day for the monthly fast, and it is the worst thing ever down here in the heat when we walk so much!!! i hate fasting! my sacrifice better have helped my investigators out, because it took everything i possibly had to restrain myself from drinking a glass of juice that an investigator put in front of me during a lesson.  hopefully the heat isnt as intense the next time, cuz we could probably become dehydrated.

Also, i was going to answer one of your questions you asked.  after baptism, we do continue visiting those converts, for basically their first year as a member.  there are certain lessons that we have to teach them after baptism, like what temples are for, eternal marriage, family history, a bunch of stuff like that.  we always encourage them to come to church with us and stuff like, and try to have lunch in their houses too so they have a lot of contact with us still.

We had transfers yesterday, and nothing happened here in my area.  im staying here, my comp is staying here, and the other 2 elders in my apartment are staying here too.  im not gonna lie i was a little bit disappointed that i dont have a new comp, cuz i was waiting for someone to come who is a little more competent who can really show me how things should be done.  but when i found out that both of us would be staying, i got a renewed feeling of just wanting to work even harder to make up for my comps social retardedness.  so this is gonna be a good transfer :)

i also found out some weird crap that my comp believes this week too.  he was telling me about this stuff that happened in peru and i thought that it was just stories....turns out he actually believes that its true.  the first one is about a little town in peru where supposedly if a husband cheats on his wife, or vice versa, they turn into like half mules.  then when the townspeople wake up in the morning, they see this half mule person and then they know that this person is an adulterer and they kill them!  the second one is about this river in peru and i guess a pink dolphin lives in this river.  if you walk close by this river, your best friend, or lover, or whoever comes up to you and starts talking to you (this person is the pink dolphin transformed) they talk to you for a while and then they say hey lets go fishing! and this dolphin takes you to the river, drags you in with him, and youre never seen again.  he told me that its gotta be true because a lot of people have disappeared in that area, so that proves this pink dolphin thing is real.  the last one was he told us about a news article in a newspaper in peru where apparently this guy was going flying around with this jetpack and slicing peoples faces off and taking their intestines....he was dead serious about all of this.  its freaking hilarious! haha

so yeah, thats about it for this week, tell chad and megan sirrine to write me again, theyre slacking! haha also i received demi huntsmans wedding invite today, so if you see laurie, tell her i am sending the letter to demi tomorrow! haha i did read all of the scriptures for the 12 days of christmas, and im still wondering how you found all of them....and let me know how mitt romney is doing! all the members down here have been telling us stuff about him.  apparently hes doin pretty good?  but yeah, thats all, hope to hear from you guys next week!  neccia, tanner, and susan, write me a dearelder or email!  love you all!

Con amor,

Elder Sirrine
